BACHELOR OF ARTS

ALEKSAAleksa Popovic (Serbia)
Aleksa Popovic was born in 1995 in Paraćin, Serbia. He has been playing saxophone since he was 11 years old and is currently a Bachelor student at the Konservatorium Wien University in professor Lars Mlekusch`s class. In 2012, with the initiative of the Russian saxophone player, Vitaly Vatulia, leader of the „Music for Peace“ project, Aleksa performed with a symphony orchestra in Moscow, as one of the best in his generation. He attended a lot of masterclasses with Jean-Yves Fourmeau (France), Margarita Shaposhnikova (Russia), Joel Versavaud (France), Gordan Tudor (Croatia), Lev Pupis (Slovenia), Matjaz Drevensek (Slovenia), Dragan Sremec (Croatia). He also won many national and international competitions in Serbia and performed concerts in Slovenia, Russia and Serbia.

István Szaller wurde  in 1992 in Budapest geboren .  Nach seiner Grundausbildung lernte er Saxophon bei Nandor Götz am Weiner Leo Konservatorium Budapest. Vier Jahre später wechselte er nach Wien zu Sandor Rigo ans Vienna Konservatorium und ein Jahr später zu Lars Mlekusch an die Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität.
Regelmäßig nimmt er an internationalen Meisterkursen teil (Arno Bornkamp, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, Mario Marzi, Vincent Lê Quang, Willen van Merwijk) und ist Preisträger des Nationalen Saxophonwettbewerbs in Ungarn. Er hat mit verschiedenen Besetzungen in mehreren Ländern des Europas gespielt.

Georg Palmanshofer wurde 1992 in Österreich geboren. Mit neun Jahren begann er Saxophon zu spielen. 2012 wechselte er von der Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität an die Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität in die Klasse von Lars Mlekusch. Er spielt Konzerte mit verschiedenen österreichischen Orchestern und tritt auch als Solist auf. Außerdem ist er Preisträger nationaler Wettbewerbe (Prima la Musica, 2011 1. Preis).

Noémi Szőke wurde 1993 in Baja (Ungarn) geboren. Seit  dem 10. Lebensjahr spielt sie Saxophon. 2007-2011 nahm sie Saxophounterricht am „Pécser Gymnasium und Fachmittelschule für Kunst” bei Zsuzsanna Szendrői. Seit 2011 studiert sie an der Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität in der Klasse von Lars Mlekusch. Sie nimmt regelmäßig an Meisterkursen teil. Sie ist Preisträgerin nationaler und internationaler Musikwettbewerbe (2. Preis, Slovenien, 2010; 1. Preis, Ungarn, 2010; 1. Preis Fidelio Wettbewerb 2012 in Wien). Sie spielt regelmäßig Konzerte in verschiedenen Besetzungen.

ALEKSANDARAleksandar Jankech (Serbia)
Aleksandar was born on March 28, 1995. in Požarevac, Serbia. He has been playing saxophone since he was nine and he is currently a fourth year Bachelor of arts student at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität , in professor Lars Mlekusch’s class. He has participated in many competitions, won numerous awards and took part many cultural events in Serbia, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Italy and Austria. He participated in master classes taught by Eugene Rousseau (USA), Arno Bornkamp (Holland), Claude Delangle (France), Jean-Yves Fourmeau, Daniel Gauthier (Canada/Germany) and many others.

Livia graduated from “G. Verdi Conservatory” in Milano under the guidance of Mario Marzi,  she’s now attending the Konservatorum Wien University studying with Lars Mlekusch. She attended master-classes in Italy and abroad with internationally renowned teachers. Awarded in national and international competitions (2nd Prize under 18 “Marco Fiorindo”), she has performed as a soloist with „”Pomeriggi musicali“ Orchestra” (Milan) and with numerous ensemble at important festivals in Italy and abroad. She collaborated with “Orchestra Accademia della Scala” under the direction of John Axelrod. She performed at the Italian Premiere of „LinkerAugentanz“ by Karlheinz Stockhausen at the Milan Conservatory.

Japanese Saxophonist, Tadayoshi Kusakabe performs as soloist and chamber musician vigorously. Mainly he focuses into contemporary musics, and he he is trying to applicate the experiences into traditional and classic musics.
He received Bachelor Degree from Aichi University of the Arts, and currently he studies as a master student under prof. Lars Mlekusch by Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität.
Kusakabe has the 2nd and golden price of the 2nd EMONA International Woodwinds Competition 2013, and in 2014 he performed as a Semi-Finalist at the 4th Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition.

SZYMONSzymon Zawodny (Poland) BA Frederic Chopin University of Music Warsaw / Conservatorium van Amsterdam

Szymon was born in 1992 in Sosnowiec. He started to play saxophone at the age of 7. He graduated from Frederic Chopin University of Music in Warsaw and received a bachelor’s degree in Paweł Gusnar saxophone class. In the meantime Szymon studied 1 year in Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Arno Bornkamp. Currently Szymon is accepted in Konservatorium Wien University to study with Lars Mlekusch. He was a participant in numerous competitions, where he has received many prizes f. ex. scholarship on YAMAHA competition, 2nd prize on International Saxophone Competition in Łódź (Poland), 2nd prize on European ClariSax in Valenciennes (France). He took part in Master Classes with: Daniel Gauthier, Jean Denis-Michat, Christian Wirth, Vincent David, Lars Mlekusch, Arno Bornkamp, Otis Murphy, Jan Schulte-Bunert, Claus Olesen, Matjaz Drevensek, Dragan Srmec and Jerome Laran. He participated in musical events: La Folle Journee de Nantes 2014 (France), Warsaw Autumn (Poland), Musica Polonica Nova (Poland).

PrintCharles NG (Hong Kong) BA Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts
Charles NG is regarded as one of the most prominent and active young classical saxophonist in Hong Kong. In 2014 Ng graduated from the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts in Saxophone Performance with first class honours. He is currently a master student of Konservatorium Wien for master’s degree under the tutelage of Prof. Lars Mlekusch. Working with numerous orchestras, NG had performed some of the most well known Saxophone Concertos by composers such as C. Debussy, J. Ibert, H. Tomasi and A. Glazunov.  He won the title of “Young Music Maker 2011” in a competition held by Radio Television Hong Kong, recorded a CD and did a series of broadcasting in radio and TV programme. In 2013, along with saxophonist Kuan-Wen Chen, founder of MIT saxophone ensemble, they had a concert tour in Asia and they were invited to give masterclass at Mahidol University MCGP in Thailand.

 

ARIK Hayrapet Arakelyan (Armenia/Germany) http://www.hayrapet-arakelyan.de BA HfMT Köln

In 1999, he started to study with Prof. A.Manukyan. In 2005, he entered the class of Professor Daniel Gauthier at the Musikhochschule in Cologne, Germany. Since 2014 he is studing with Lars Mlekush at the Konservatorium Wien. Hayrapet Arakelyan is the First Prize winner of various international competitions, and has perfoming experience on prestigeous festivals around Europe ans USA (Rheingau Musikfestival, Emilia Romagna Festival, Boston Pops Festival etc.)
In 2010 he was representing Germany at the Eurovision Young Musicians contest in Vienna. The performance was broadcasted live in more than 18 countries. Since than he had various recordings from BR,WDR, RAI und Deutschlandradio. In addition he is also an active chamber musician. In 2012, Hayrapet extended his chamber musical visions and founded together with the pianist Rudolfs Vanks and the violinist Fedor Roudine the FRATRES TRIO. As an ensemble of a very unusual formation, the Fratres Trio managed to gain quickly interest and was therefore invited very shortly after its foundation to festivals in Germany, France, Italy and Armenia. His debut CD „French Connection“ with works by Denisov, Milhaud, Borne, Swerts and Muczynski was released in spring 2012 with ARS Production. The next CD with Fratres Trio will be released in begining 2015.
Since 2014 Hayrapet Arakelyan is Daddario Woodwind artist.

JOANJORDIJoan Jordi Oliver Arcos  (Spain), Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón

Joan Jordi was born in 1994 in Campos, Illes Balears. He was studying at the Conservatori Professional de Música i Dansa de Mallorca until 2012, when he moved to Zaragoza to study with professors Mariano García and Nacho Gascón in the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Aragón. He is currently studying at the Konservatorium Wien University with professor Lars Mlekusch as Eramus student. Joan Jordi has performed in many concerts around Spain, and has won many national and international awards (Joventuts Musicals de Sóller, CPMDM, Concurso de Saxofón Ciudad de Ávila, Ciutat de Xàtiva, Intercentros Melómano…). He has also participated in masterclasses taught by Claude Delangle, Arno Bornkamp, Lars Mlekusch, Vincent David, Christian Wirth, Jean-Denis Michat, Marie-Bernadette Charrier, Andrés Gomis, and many others.

KRZYSZTOFKrzysztof Guńka (Poland) MA Academy of Music Krakow

Krzysztof Guńka was born in 1990 in Cieszyn. In 2009 he graduated from the Public Music High School (1st and 2st degree) named by I. J. Paderewski in Cieszyn. In 2012 he got bachelor degree and in 2014 he obtained master degree in Academy of Music in Kraków in the saxophone class of prof. Andrzej Rzymkowski.
In the mean time he takes part in master classes taught by such professors as: Arno Bornkamp, Nobuya Sugawa, Lars Mlekusch, Jan Schulte – Bunert, Claus Olesen, Günter Priesner, and others.
He develops his musical skills in saxophone courses (Warszawa, Kraków, Nowy Sącz, Szczecinek) and competitions like:
– Festival of Saxophone in Przeworsk in 2006 and 2008 – the prizewinner of the third place
– Wind Instruments’ Competition in Wrocław in 2007 – the second place
– International Saxophone Competition “Gustav Bumcke” in Nurnberg in 2010 – promoted to semi – final
– International Saxophone Competiti Dateien hinzufügenon in Odessa “Golden Sax of Odessa” in 2013 – promoted to semi – final

American saxophonist Phil Pierick has commissioned more than a dozen new works and presented premieres in eight countries, including solo recitals in Chicago, Paris, Taipei, and Kuala Lumpur. Phil is the only saxophonist to receive prizes at both the Jean-Marie Londeix International Saxophone Competition (2014) and the ISSAC International Saxophone Competition (2012). He was named Vandoren Emerging Artist of 2011. His saxophone duo, Ogni Suono, recently released Invisible Seams, an album featuring newly commissioned saxophone duets.
Phil is currently a doctoral candidate and recipient of the Performer’s Certificate at the Eastman School of Music, under the direction of Chien-Kwan Lin. He was awarded Eastman’s Teaching Assistant Prize for his work as a chamber music instructor. He will study with with Lars Mlekusch at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität as a 2014-15 Fulbright Scholar. He has studied with Jean-Michel Goury in Paris as a Frank Huntington Beebe Scholar. His Bachelor and Master of Music degrees are from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where he studied with Debra Richtmeyer and held the position of saxophone teaching assistant.

(Iquique, Chile 1985-) Alvaro Siu-Kin Collao Leon studierte bei Miguel Villafruela an der Universität Chile. Anschliessend spezialisierte er sich bei Marie-Bernardette Charrier am Conservatoire Jacques Thibaud in Bordeaux auf zeitgenössiche Musik und arbeitet seit 2011 mit Lars Mlekusch in Wien. Er spielte an wichtigen Festivals in Chile und der ganzen Welt als Solist oder Mitglied verschiedener Ensembles und Orchester. Er war Preisträger mehrerer Wettbewerbe unter anderem als Gewinner des  “Young soloists Competitions 2008“  wo er danach als Solist mit dem Chilenischen Symphonieorchester aufreten Konnte. Im selben Jahr gewann er den ersten “Pan American Competition Classic Saxophone“ in Mexico. Seit 2009 ist er Gewinner und Träger des “Regional Government Scholarship Tarapacá-Chile“ Als Spezialist für zeitgenössisches Saxophonrepertoire wurde er zu wichtigen Festivals in Südamerica eingeladen: IV° Saxophone Festival in Buenos Aires(Argentinien), Peru Sax2012, III Saxfest of Costa Rica, Univesität von Guanajuato (Mexiko) und dem VIII° International Festival of the UNAM in Mexico City.

Michal has performed in various concert halls such as Walt Disney Concert Hall in Los Angeles, Berlin Konzerthaus, Wiener Konzerthaus, Liederhalle Stuttgart, Filharmonia Krakowska. He has performed at many festivals such as Wiener Festwochen, Young Euro Classic, Idyllwild Arts Los Angeles, Vienna Saxfest, Bolzano Festival, The Malta Arts Festival, Roma Saxfest, Festival Suona Francese. He was awarded the „Mloda Polska“ scholarship, given by Polish Minister of Culture and National Heritage and was recipient of scholarships given by Italian Goverment. Michal is an active chamber musician contributing to several ensembles. He has also performed with symphonic orchestras such as European Union Youth Orchestra and German Landesjugendorchester. He holds degrees from the Academy of Music in Krakow and the Conservatorio Santa Cecilia in Rome, and in 2014 he will complete his master’s degree with Lars Mlekusch at the Konservatorium Wien Privatuniversität in Vienna.
